What is a Strength Calculator and How Does It Work?
A strength calculator is an essential tool for athletes and fitness enthusiasts to determine their strength level. Our strength calculator 2026 uses the Brzycki formula to estimate your 1RM (one rep max) and compare it to US strength standards. Whether you need a 1RM calculator for bench press, squat, or deadlift, this max rep calculator provides accurate results. The strength level calculator helps you understand where you stand compared to other lifters.
How does the strength level calculator work? Enter your body weight, lift type, weight lifted, and reps completed. The one rep max calculator instantly shows your 1RM, strength-to-weight ratio, strength category, and percentile. The squat max calculator and bench max chart use the same proven methodology.
1RM Formula — Brzycki Method
1RM = Weight Lifted × (36 ÷ (37 - Reps)). Example: 225 lbs × 8 reps = 225 × (36 ÷ 29) = 279 lbs.
The Brzycki method is widely considered the most accurate 1RM formula for lifts up to 10 reps. For higher reps, use the Epley formula or our advanced calculator.
